Join us for a walk/run/bike-a-thon to benefit the Heart of Iowa Chapter of the National Marfan Foundation. Marfan Syndrome (MFS) is a genetic disorder that weakens the body’s connective tissues – the “glue” that holds the body together. It affects many organ systems, including the skeleton, lungs, eyes, heart and blood vessels. MFS affects people of all ages, races and class (approx. 200,000 people in the U.S.). From President Abraham Lincoln to your neighbor, this disorder can affect anyone. While there is no cure for Marfan syndrome, early

diagnosis and proper treatment can allow a Marfan patient to live a normal lifespan.

WHEN: 5K, 10K & 1-Mile Walk begin Saturday, August 30 at 7:15 a.m. Youth Trot (under 8-years of age) begins at 8:30 a.m. Family Fun Bike Ride (3-miles) starts at 8:30 a.m. (helmets are required).

WHERE: The run starts and ends in Doanes Park, 5050 Pleasant Hill Blvd., Pleasant Hill, IA traveling along the bike trail. Walkers will line up behind the runners. Youth trotters will line up in the north parking lot at 8:30 a.m. The bike ride starts at the Copper Creek Plaza parking lot, 1225 Copper Creek Drive, Pleasant Hill, IA and travels around Copper Creek Lake, ending at Doanes Park.

PACKET PICK-UP:

1. Friday, August 29, 5-8 p.m. at Copper Creek Plaza (1225 Copper Creek Drive, Pleasant Hill)

2. At the race site on Saturday, August 30 beginning at 6:15 a.m. Registration ends at 7:00 a.m.

All proceeds go to support Emergency Room Awareness, Pediatric Awareness and Marfan Research. Please come out and help us raise awareness of Marfan Syndrome.
