This baby robin flew the nest a little too early yesterday, we think. He hopped all the way from the tree at our front porch to under the front bumper of my husband’s car, but he really couldn’t fly. His three siblings (the ones in the nest) all flew away just fine. My husband moved it to a safer area, but he was gone an hour later. Maybe he did fly away?

My neck today

The skin where the wounds are itches like crazy, which I suppose is a good sign of healing. I want to scratch it to bits. My voice is better than it was yesterday — not as much squeaking. That means the swelling is going down some. I realized yesterday that if for some reason the swelling increased, I could suffocate. I’d have no way to breathe. But it’s not that bad now.

I’ve spent most of today and yesterday getting this new blog figured out, and have been working on financial stuff. I had a conference call today, too. Been watching the birds. Grackles are shiny black pigs with wings. I filled up the birdfeeder this morning and it’s empty already! Only three grackles can balance on the feeder at once, but there were five trying to all get on at the same time today. It’s fun to watch them, even if they do inhale all the food from the finches.
