If you are a member of the National Marfan Foundation, you should have received (or will receive soon) your brochure about this year's conference. It will be in St. Louis, and sounds fantastic. Most of the conferences are fantastic -- you learn about the Marfan syndrome from doctors who are very experienced with Marfan patients, and (best of all), you get to meet lots of people who have the Marfan syndrome.
All of the conferences are great for families, but this year's is going to be more affordable than most for families since kids will be free! And this year, babysitting will also be free! PLUS, included in the fees is a ballgame between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves at the Busch Stadium!!
The fees for the conference may seem high ($275 for members if you register before June 1, $375 for members after June 1, and $400 for nonmembers. If you're a non-member, become a member for $35.
The travel expenses and the hotels also cost a bunch for many people, but believe me, it's worth it. Just being able to meet other people -- adults and kids -- with Marfan is emotional and rewarding in many ways.
If you're not a member of the National Marfan Foundation, consider becoming one. See Become a Member at the NMF site. _________________ Jeanette Navia
